What is Creative Commons?

"Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization that enables the sharing and use of creativity and knowledge through free legal tools." Creative Commons licenses allows a work’s creator to specify how they want others to use their work. Do you have work to share on the Web? It's easy to select the license that's right for you by using the Creative Commons Choose a License tool.

Look for Creative Commons licenses for  

  • no cost images
  • no need to ask permission
  • enormous selection
  • variety of search interfaces

Look for Public Domain for

  • works that are free of known copyright restrictions worldwide
  • no attribution necessary, but appreciated
