Articles available online through Pitt libraries from 2010 through 2022

Basic instructions:

The links below go to the Pitt Libraries discovery tool. The searches have been set up to search for online articles only. Articles will be displayed by relevance.

To add terms to the search: click on + ADD A NEW LINE. You can also modify the terms in the search.

If you rerun the search with new terms, you may need to reset the filters.

1. In the left side menu, click the box next to Show Only: Available online.
2. Below the Show Only options, click the box next to Resource Type: Articles
3. Click APPLY FILTERS.

PubMed Central contains ONLY the full text of articles, many of which are not found through PubMed.

Don't be afraid to review searches that find large numbers of articles. The most relevant will float to the top of the list!

Want free journal articles?

PubMed Central is really great but not all health-related articles on Guyana will be found in it. PubMed will be a more comprehensive source of health-related literature.

Don't pay for journal articles!

If you hit a paywall when searching PubMed, chances are you went to PubMed.gov. I'm sorry to say-- information is not free!

Here's the thing: The Pitt Library Systems have already paid so you do not need to. NEVER PAY FOR AN ARTICLE!

There are 2 ways to access PubMed so you won't hit a journal paywall:

1. Use the HSLS link to PubMed. A Links@Pitt-UPMC button will appear next to each article record. Click that to get to the full text link of the article. 
   • If for some reason the article is not readily available, request a scan (for free). It's very fast!
2. Create and customize a My NCBI account.
   • What's that???
   • It's an account with PubMed where you can save your searches and create alerts so new results are emailed to you.
   • Best of all, by customizing according to our instructions, you can go directly to PubMed.gov, log in, and have Pitt libraries access to journal articles.

These searches have been designed to look for various aspects of Guyana and the rural areas or Guyana and climate change/environment. T

Copy the search strategy (in bold) and paste into PubMed search box (this link has the HSLS information embedded in it to ensure you have the best possible access to the full text of articles).
