HSLS for Health and Rehabilitation Sciences

Introduction to HSLS

HSLS has access to many resources that can assist you in your research process. Each resource serves a different purpose and includes different material and information.

Watch this short Web Tour video for an introduction to the HSLS website.

Physical Space

The Health Sciences Library is located at M722 Scaife Hall, 3550 Terrace St. Enter from Lothrop St. near Terrace St. The main desk's phone number is 412-648-8866.

The library is normally open from 7am to midnight Monday through Thursday; 7am to 10pm Friday; 9:30am to 10pm Saturday; and 11am to midnight Sunday. These hours are subject to change based on University holidays and library construction, but you can always find the current hours on our website.

Visit the main desk to borrow equipment such as laptops and phone chargers, or consult with an assistant about a technology issue or project.

The library has printers, WiFi, and a variety of study spaces.

Library Resources

Almost all of the resources you will need are available 24/7 online on the HSLS website.

Use the library databases to search for individual articles. Access PubMed through the library website to link up to all of our resources. Other useful databases are listed on our Databases A-Z page.

If you need access to a specific journal, browse available titles on our E-Journals page.

The search box on the HSLS home page searches PittCat, the library catalog. Use PittCat to search all resources available at any Pitt library (including ULS). Your search results will include individual articles, as well as resources such as videos, databases, books, and more.

HSLS Classes

A variety of classes and workshops are hosted at HSLS. A wide range of topics are offered, from choosing a citation manager to finding research funding to Bulk RNA seq-analysis. Check the class calendar to browse offerings by date, look at the class catalog to see the entirety of what is offered, or sign up to receive alerts via e-mail.

Don't see what you need? Suggestions are always welcome for new class topics, or contact Rose Turner or Kelsey Cowles to request a customized consultation.
