PubMed is a product of the National Library of Medicine. It is a freely available search tool for finding journal articles on a variety of biomedical topics. It does not contain conference abstracts or conference proceedings. Access PubMed from the Health Sciences Library System homepage and you will be able to obtain full text articles available from the library by clicking the "Links@Pitt-UPMC" button when viewing an item on PubMed.
We highly recommend that any health sciences students at Pitt sign up for one of our Painless PubMed classes. If your are a more experienced PubMed user, we also offer an Advanced PubMed class once a semester. Click here to see a full calendar of our class offerings!
Can't make a live class or prefer to learn at your own pace? We also have a Canvas-based self-paced learning module all about PubMed, designed by several HSLS librarians.
And if that isn't enough, these are some additional resources that can help you get started with PubMed right away:
Video tutorials:
The video "PubMed: Save a Search and Download Search History" shows how to save a search or receive search alerts.
The video "PubMed Advanced Search" introduces the viewer to PubMed's advanced search builder.
Librarians are available to help you with using the library resources and to help you with your searches, citations, and many other research issues.
Librarians are available by telephone, live chat and e-mail, from 9 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday.
